I just moved to another state but i like to keep my old phone number. Is it a turn off for employers to reply to your resume if the area code doesn’t match the job location?

What are some alternatives to career websites when job hunting?

Job Hunting
Emma-girl asked:

When I was looking for a job about 2 years ago, whenever I would post my voicemail would fill up immediately, now that doesn’t seem to be the case in this recession. Any pointers?

Is it necessary to move to a big city for job hunting?

Job Hunting
chrysd asked:

I graduate recently and Iam looking for a job currently. I’ve know the economy is bad. I am in a small town now. I was wondering if I should move to a big city. I feel there might be more opportunity to get a job there. But living costs in big cities are higher. I am already in debt. I do not know if I can get a job easier if I move there.

Besides Monster of course. I just moved to Arizona and though I have a couple job offers from law firms (attorney by trade) I’d like to explore things before I make a choice.

I have been job hunting for a while and have been offered a job, but?

Job Hunting
-NA- asked:

I was just offered a job yesterday, but I got a call today from another job that I applied for and they want to set up an interview. I took the first because I was tired of looking. I’d rather get the second job. Suggestions please? Oh, and add on that I know someone at the first company.

Is it bad to go job hunting on a Friday?

A couple people have told me that the best days to go apply for jobs are Mondays and Tuesdays and that going on Fridays isn’t too professional. Is this true? And if so, why does it matter?

Do you think applying through a website is effective when job hunting?

Job Hunting
Wolf_22 asked:

Many employers, now, seem to think that their vacant positions fill faster and effectively when posting on a website. Thinking about it from the employer’s perspective, one might understand their thinking, but I want to hear from the employees and or job seekers.

What do you think about this? Is applying through websites fair? Is it effective? Should it be legal? Do you like or hate it?

Is it absolutely essential to disclose that I have resigned while job hunting?

Job Hunting
sud asked:

I live in India, and had to resign 4 months ago due to a family medical emergency. Now that I am job hunting, the recruiters change tactics immediately when I disclose that I am jobless. Even after I have cleared all rounds of interviews, they seem to play a waiting game.Ok, they want to pay lower salary, but won’t disclose how low.
In such situations, do I need to be honest, and be exploited ? Please advise.
No( financial) crisis at present. but am getting discouraged.
