Jobs Vacancies And Tailoring Your Resume

The job market is very competitive and you need to use all your skills to make sure you get noticed by employers. Here are a few tips to help you get the edge in searching out and landing the job of your dreams. You can make sure that you tailor your CV to the position you are applying for by looking closely at the jobs vacancies advert.

Your CV
For the most part your CV will be the most important tool you have when applying for jobs. Since potential employers have to whittle down practically hundreds of applications to a few valid ones, they will have to base their narrowing down efforts using the CVs they have collected.

Studies have shown that about half of the employers decide to accept or reject job applications based on the related work experience listed in the CV. And something as small as the design and layout of your CV will influence a further 1/3 to reject or invite you to a face to face meeting.

1. Make Your CV Concise and Relevant
Do not write a really long CV. It may make it irrelevant to the evaluator. Time is money to an employer so the less they have to read the better. respect the employers time and provide them with a succinct CV.

2. Always tailor your CV to the job.
You need to make sure that you only list the work experience that is relevant to the position you are applying for. Some people keep many different versions of their CV for different job opening purposes. one CV will not be appropriate for every job you apply for. A one-size-fits-all CV may not be the best way to go since the employer will have the impression that your previous efforts have not been focused enough to produce any specialization on your part.

3. Write about your achievements
You can include experience and achievements that you have gained out of work whilst making them relevant to the position. Making the most of your experiences is good but do not big yourself up without backing any statements up. however make sure you do not list any weak points to your job skills as this will make you stand out for the wrong reasons.
